Minutes of the 2022 Annual Meeting

September 5-12, 2022

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the annual meeting was held online. Members who attended it did so by viewing the annual meeting pages at www.hawaiiconcertsociety.com.  Members were supplied a password on postcards to allow them to access the meeting pages and to vote. At the time of the annual meeting, the total membership (from 2021-2022 and 2022-2023) was 157.

The meeting pages contained a document of welcome from President Tom Geballe, the minutes of the 2021-2022 annual meeting, the treasurer’s report for the financial year that ended on June 30, 2022, the list of nominees for the board for the 2022-2023 season (see below), a summary of the current status of the 2022-23 concert season, and election pages enabling online voting.

A total of 22 votes were recorded. Both the treasurer’s report and the slate of board members passed unanimously. The minutes of the previous membership meeting were approved 19-0 with 3 abstentions.

The 2022-2023 has been finalized and consists of six public concerts: Ukrainian pianist Dmytro Choni – Oct. 23; the Dover String Quartet – Nov 15; pianist Joyce Yang with the Galliard String Quartet – Jan 9; Giordano Dance Chicago – Jan 25; Steven Isselis, cello and Connie Shih, piano – Feb 16; and Trio Karénine – Mar 11. Most of the concerts are parts of state-wide tours. The season follows two seasons of virtual concerts The lower number of concerts than usual is due in part to cautiousness by many of the Hawaii presenters, who are  concerned about the effects of the pandemic on attendance, and in part to scheduling conflicts.

The online portal was closed and the meeting effectively ended on September 13, 2022.
